At the very highest frequencies, the geometry of the HF horn causes an intentional narrowing of the vertical pattern from each transducer. It actually has less vertical height than the enclosure face as the wave front leaves the enclosure. The sound waves are also shaped to produce a nearly, but not quite, flat wave front. This combination ensures that, even at long distances, a particular listener is primarily listening to the highest frequencies from only one, or at most, two HF transducers.
